Wal-Mart Selling Linux PCs.

Wal-Mart has been selling PCs without Windows (and thus less expensive) for a couple of months now. At their website you can buy a Microtel PC With LindowsOS or a Mandrake Linux PC.

In an interview on the December 10, 2002 edition of the internet radio program The Linux Show it is reported (about 50 to 55 minutes into the program) that Wal-Mart has been selling 7,000 of these Linux PCs per month and that they plan to start selling them in their stores. This is great news for Linux.

After unsuccessfully trying to buy a PC without Windows from the standard vendors (Dell, Gateway, etc.), I bought a high end PC with Mandrake 8.2 installed from Wal-Mart about 10 weeks ago; it works great and I have not had any problems with it.
